Category in AceMoney is used to classify and sort income and expense so you can see this data in a meaningful way through reports and graphs. Category may represents a purpose of spending (Groceries or Gas) or a source of income (Wages or Bonus).
AceMoney uses two level system of categories consisting of the main categories and subcategories. For instance, it makes sense to assign category Food:Groceries to all grocery store transactions. In this case Food is a category and Groceries is a subcategory. Category may have many subcategories, for example, Food may have subcategory Dining out or Business lunch.
AceMoney provides two types of category based reports:
- Spending by categories
- Spending by subcategories
Every category in AceMoney has a budget limit and a budget period assigned to it.
Budget Limit is an amount of money that you are planning to spend or receive during the Budget Period. These numbers are used by budget reports to compare planned and actual spendings within some time frame.
AceMoney provides two types of budget reports:
- Budget by categories
- Budget by subcategories
