Categories page provides different ways to manage categories and subcategories.

== New category ==

This button allows to create a new category or subcategory. Push on it and AceMoney will display [[Category dialog]].

== Edit category ==

The button displays [[Category dialog]] for the currently selected category.

== Delete category ==

The button deletes the selected category. If selected category has subcategories, they need to be deleted first.

== Delete unused categories ==

The button deletes categories that are not used by [[Transaction|transactions]], [[Bill|bills]] and [[Import rule|import rules]]. Please, be careful, this action may potentially delete a lot of categories and cannot be undone.

== Merge ==

The button calls [[Merge categories dialog]] that allows to replace one category with another.

== Report by category ==

AceMoney displays Spending by category report using the selected category. If parent category is selected, then the report will include all subcategories of the selected one.

== Report by category ==

AceMoney displays Budget by categories report using the selected category. If parent category is selected, then the report will include all subcategories of the selected one.

== Import ==

This button allows to add categories from the external file. AceMoney comes with several language specific sets of files with predefined categories, they are located in Languages subdirectory of AceMoney install directory which usually is C:\Program Files\AceMoney\Languages.
